| Seasonal Residents of PEI 2025 Year In Review |
Over the past year, the Seasonal Residents of Prince Edward Island Association (SRPEI) has continued to grow and strengthen as a non-profit organization. Our Board has worked diligently to deliver meaningful value to our members.
We remain focused on three key priorities:
We continue to expand our membership base, with the goal of representing the majority of seasonal resident households across Prince Edward Island.
As of this report, there are 363 voting members of the association, which translates to over 750 individual members. Overall, there are more than 2,400 individuals participating in the seasonal Facebook groups (Seasonal Residents of PEI and American Seasonal Residents of PEI). These groups remain an important community-building platform and a strong pipeline for new Association members. In addition, our SRPEI Facebook page now has over 800 followers, helping increase awareness of the organization and its work. If you are not yet following our page, we encourage you to do so.
Most importantly, our members are our best ambassadors. Satisfied members with strong connections across the seasonal community play a vital role in helping us grow. We continue to explore ways to leverage these connections to expand our reach and strengthen our collective voice.
Creating opportunities for connection and community remains a priority.
Over the past year, we hosted and promoted a number of social and networking events in various locations across the Island. These gatherings received very positive feedback and will continue to be a focus in the year ahead. In addition to strengthening community ties, these events also help introduce prospective members to SRPEI.
In August, we held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) virtually, along with our annual social gathering. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared valuable feedback and input on our priorities for the coming year.
We are already hard at work planning the event lineup for the summer of 2026, which includes our traditional social meet-ups as well as a new series of golf events. Details will be available soon.
If you are interested in supporting or helping organize future events, we would welcome your involvement.
We consistently hear that our members appreciate the team's efforts to share information on topics that are important to them on a timely basis. We have seen over the last number of years that these important topics seem to come up very suddenly and that they often impact different elements of our membership base in distinctly different ways. While we do not yet know what the next ‘hot topic’ may be, we feel strongly that we are prepared to do what we can to help our members navigate the issues.
In response to member feedback, we continue to update and enhance the resources available on our website, recognizing that not all members participate in our Facebook groups.
Key resources include:
The contractor review page, in particular, has proven helpful for members seeking reliable services.
Throughout the year, we maintained consistent communication through our Fresh Island Fare newsletter. This publication remains a valued source of updates and information relevant to seasonal residents on Prince Edward Island. Past editions are available on our website.
Beginning in October, we hosted a series of members-only webinars that have been very well received. Topics included:
Recordings of these sessions are available on our webinar page.
We have also monitored and shared developments related to the repeal of the Underused Housing Tax (UHT), created an internet service provider fact sheet, and developed a guide to registering and insuring an out-of-province vehicle on PEI. These resources, and more, are available on our website.
Advocacy and government relations remain central to our mandate. Our goal is to build strong, constructive relationships with municipal and provincial representatives so that we can effectively represent our members on issues that matter.
Over the past year, we established a working relationship with the provincial Department of Housing, Land and Communities. This collaboration led to the climate and permitting webinars delivered last fall and reflects our commitment to proactive engagement with government partners.
We are proud of the progress we have made as a growing organization. SRPEI continues to mature, strengthen its voice, and expand its services for seasonal residents across Prince Edward Island.
Thank you to our members for your continued support, and to those who have generously volunteered your time and expertise. We encourage you to spread the word and invite your seasonal friends and neighbours to join us.
If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out. There are several opportunities open and available to contribute to our ongoing programs and success. Together, we will continue to serve and strengthen the seasonal community of Prince Edward Island.
