Municipal Government

  • Where are the municipalities on PEI? Check out the PEI Municipal Boundaries Map for more information.
  • Eastern Kings County, there is a public meeting on April 9th @ 6:30 at the Souris Regional School to review and discuss the amalgamation and annexation of communities from East Point to Goose River/Dundas to form one municipality. We encourage those who are interested and who may be on the island attend if possible and to spread the word about this effort and meeting to your friends and neighbors.

Provincial Government

The Provincial Government of PEI is inviting Island residents to share their opinion on proposed changes to the Lands Protection Act. The SRPEI is reviewing the proposed changes and will be providing feedback through this process.

The Act regulates property rights, including limits on land ownership for individuals and corporations. The proposed amendments will alter landownership rules for non-residents by requiring them to obtain Executive Council approval before acquiring an interest in property in a municipality that has an official plan (see below). Municipal property is defined as any property of one acre or less located within a municipality that has an official plan. Previously, this type of property was exempt from the Act.

You can use the PEI Municipal Boundaries Map for reference and please note:

  • Those areas shaded in green are municipalities that DO have an official plan

  • Those areas shaded in brown are municipalities the DO NOT have an official plan

More information on these changes, including how to provide feedback, can be found at Lands Protection Act Public Consultation
